The Dreaded Mirrored-Surface Product

Ah yes, everyone’s favorite mirrored-surface product shoot! Reflective surfaces always pose some interesting challenges, but if your bounce and negative fill are larger than your subject, you’ll be in good shape.

For this setup we used the Aputure 600D with the F10 fresnel and barn doors through some 250 diffusion as the key light. The 300X pushed some warmth on the back wall and the Litemat +2L with a 50 degree snap grid was overhead to bring up the exposure of the product label. 4x4 bead board provided the nice edge highlight for some separation from the background. The 4x4 floppy and 2x3 flag on on either side of the reflective surface gave it shape and some added contrast.
